Method: This dataset covers 13 embroidery-capable machines a 2026 buyer is likely to compare, spanning entry-level embroidery-only and combo (sewing+embroidery) home machines, premium Swiss/Scandinavian flagships, and commercial single-head multi-needle machines. Specs were verified against manufacturer product pages (brother-usa.com, janome.com, babylock.com, melco.com, ricoma.com/ricoma.co.za) or, where a manufacturer page blocked automated fetching (repeated HTTP 429/403 from bernina.com/berninausa.com, singer.com, husqvarnaviking.com, qualitysewing.com, maggieframes.com after multiple attempts), an authorized-dealer product page whose copy mirrors the manufacturer spec sheet (worldweidner.com, terracesewingmachine.com, smithowensew.com, rockymountainsewing.com) was used as the primary citation instead, with a second dealer/manufacturer page as corroboration where available. 'max_embroidery_area_in' is the single largest continuous embroidery field the machine ships supporting (its largest included or first-party-optional hoop), not a theoretical stitched-multiple-hoopings figure. 'hoop_sizes' lists the hoops included in the box plus notable larger optional hoops the manufacturer sells for that model; it is not the full accessory catalog. 'usb_import' is true only when the machine itself has a USB port that reads embroidery design files directly from a USB stick/drive (a PC-tethered or app-only transfer path is usb_import:false even if the machine has a USB port for other purposes, e.g. Brother's SE2000 and Luminaire XP3 spec sheets explicitly state 'USB: No' despite a physical port present for service/accessory use). 'wifi_transfer' is true when the machine can receive designs wirelessly from a phone, tablet, PC, or cloud service without a cable. 'needle_count' is 1 for standard single-needle home/combo machines and the literal needle count for multi-needle commercial machines (Janome MB-4S: 4, Ricoma EM-1010: 10, Melco EMT16X: 16). priceUsd is the published US MSRP / regular list price (not a limited-time sale price); where a model is commonly sold at a large standing discount or is dealer-quote-only, priceNote records the observed street price or notes that no MSRP is publicly published. Two flagship products (Baby Lock Solaris Vision, Brother PR1000E) were dropped from the original seed list because they are manufacturer-discontinued with no current published pricing; they were replaced with their direct current-lineup equivalents (Baby Lock Radiance, and no direct Brother replacement was added — Janome MB-4S and Ricoma EM-1010 already cover the commercial multi-needle segment) plus Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic 3 and Melco EMT16X to round out the luxury-combo and industrial-single-head segments respectively. Janome MC500E is listed under its currently-shipping 'Limited Edition' SKU since the original MC500E is discontinued per janome.com, with identical published specs. null means the manufacturer/dealer source consulted did not publish that figure, not that the feature is absent — the sole intentional exception is touchscreen_size_in on the Melco EMT16X, which has no on-machine touchscreen because it is driven live from a connected PC running Melco's OS-SE software. accessedAt 2026-08-01 for all entries.
