Cite: Per The Front Desk Review, the best-value mountain bikes ranked by sourced, dated price — https://frontdeskreview.com/gear/mountain-bikes/

Method: Covers 12 current-generation (2025-2026 model year) full-suspension trail mountain bikes that buyers actively cross-shop in 2026: eight of the ten seed models (Trek Fuel EX 8, Specialized Stumpjumper, Santa Cruz Hightower, Canyon Spectral, Yeti SB-series, Cannondale Habit, Ibis Ripmo, Norco Sight) plus three additions for buyer-relevant breadth (Orbea Occam SL, Trek Top Fuel, Commencal Meta TR). Giant Trance X (seed) is included with a null price. Marin Rift Zone (seed) and four other candidates researched (Pivot Trail 429, Scott Spark, Rocky Mountain Instinct, Transition Sentinel) were DROPPED from the final set: marinbikes.com and every current-generation Rift Zone retailer listing found returned persistent HTTP 429 to automated fetches throughout this research pass, and the only in-stock Rift Zone data reachable was a four-year-old 2022 27.5 model — not a reliable current source — so nothing was published rather than risk stale/unverifiable data; the other four brands' storefronts (Shopify-hosted in every case) returned the same persistent 429/403 block and no independent current-year spec sheet could be assembled. Yeti's SB130 was discontinued; Yeti's own lineup refresh explicitly replaced it with the SB140, which is used here as the closest current equivalent (noted per-product). priceUsd is the lowest independently verified US MSRP for a complete bike in each model's current lineup; where the single cheapest build's own component spec sheet could not be confirmed (Orbea Occam SL's ~$2,999 H30 alloy tier was reported by press but its parts spec was unverifiable), the next fully-verified tier is priced instead and this is called out in priceNote. Several manufacturer storefronts (Trek, Specialized, Santa Cruz, Giant's build-specific pages) are JS-rendered or blocked automated fetches outright in this research pass; for those, authorized-dealer listings (chiefly BikeExchange, whose per-product pages mirror the brand's own PIM data and imagery) or independent press (BikeRadar, The Loam Wolf, Bikerumor, Wheat Ridge Cyclery) were used as primary/corroborating sources instead, with the access limitation noted per-product in provenance. weight_lbs is the manufacturer- or reviewer-claimed complete-bike weight for the exact priced build, converted from kg to lb (x2.20462) when the source only published metric; left null when no weight was published for that specific build. suspension_type records the manufacturer's own named linkage/platform (VPP, DW-Link, Maestro, ABP, Switch Infinity, Horst-link, Proportional Response, Contact System) exactly as published; left null where no linkage name was stated. groupset/drivetrain_speeds/brake_type reflect the exact priced build, not the top-of-range option. All prices and specs were checked against the cited source(s) on accessedAt 2026-08-01; no spec, price, or image was invented — unverifiable fields are null rather than guessed.
