1. Platinum Category leader — the single best-standing product in its class on the sourced record. 367 one per class
2. Gold Top of its class — clearly ahead of the field on value, spec strength and freshness. 824 16% of graded

How a Deskmark is earned

To carry any metal, a product must first be On the Record — every spec and price sourced from the seller's own page and dated; where a figure can't be sourced, we publish a null, never a guess. Its tier is then its standing in its category, from the same public algorithm that powers our rankings: value for money, spec strength, and how current the data is. Platinum is reserved for the single category leader, so the apex stays rare by construction.
