How we make money

Free to read, with a free, openly-licensed core dataset. We earn from retailer affiliate links (a flat commission on any purchase made through an outbound link — the same whichever product you pick, and whether or not you buy) and from licensing the dataset. No ranking, score, or listing is ever for sale; every figure is sourced and dated. See Methodology.

This site is free to read and its core dataset is free to download. We earn in two ways — and neither can touch what we rank or the figures we record:

1. Retailer affiliate links. When you click through to a retailer to buy, some outbound links (through Amazon's Associates program) carry a tag that pays us a small commission on a qualifying purchase. It is a flat commission that is the same whichever product you choose — we earn nothing extra for ranking one product above another, so the order and the scores cannot be bought. These links are marked rel="sponsored" and labelled plainly ("Check current price at …"). We only earn if you actually buy — which is why our price-drop watch, built to tell you to wait for a better price, deliberately works against our own affiliate revenue.
2. Data licensing. The core dataset is free to download under an attribution license (CC-BY 4.0); commercial licensing and syndication of the data fund the work.

No vendor pays us. No sponsored rankings. No pay-for-placement. No paid inclusion. A vendor cannot pay to be listed, ranked, scored, "verified," or removed. Listing is free and needs no vendor's consent or payment, and error corrections are free for everyone, always — accuracy is never paywalled. We also decline directed brand partnerships and paid "feature our product" pitches: no brand can buy a mention, a review, or a better placement here, at any price.
