Importing to the Egypt: is it actually cheaper?
We haven't priced individual products for Egypt yet — but the checker works on any Egypt product link right now: paste one and we read its price, match our US price of record, and do the landed-cost math below. Here's how importing to Egypt works.
How importing to the Egypt works
- Import VAT
- 14% on the US price + shipping (CIF), above a ٠ ج.م. de-minimis threshold.
- Duty
- 40% — Highly item-dependent. ~5% is the common rate for general consumer electronics (cameras, headphones, accessories). Laptops/computers are effectively 0% (Egypt is a WTO ITA participant). Smartphones are the major exception: since 2025 imported mobile phones carry roughly a 38.5% effective tax load under the "Egypt Makes Electronics" initiative (the passenger duty-free exemption ended 21 Jan 2026). All of this is layered with 14% VAT plus a development/service fee (~1-5% of CIF).
- Forwarding
- Stackry, from the US — about 5-12 days.
- FX
- E£52.4/USD mid-market + 3% card spread, as of 2026-10-11.
Every verdict is computed only from these figures — it's never for sale, and we're not a shipping company, so we don't earn more when you import.
