Scope is single-zone wall-mount systems; specs are quoted for the most commonly sold nominal size (usually the 12,000 BTU/h model in a family) so cross-brand rows compare like for like. Excludes air-conditioning-only (non-heat-pump) units, window/portable units, multi-zone-only condensers, ceiling-cassette and floor-console indoor styles, and central ducted air handlers.
