Tested by PCWorld

Consistently praised

  • Feature-rich for the ~$260 price: Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5GbE LAN, three M.2 slots and 20Gb/s USB rival costlier boards
  • Easy-to-use MSI BIOS with ample CPU/RAM tuning options
  • Clean stealth design plus builder-friendly integrated I/O shield and screwless M.2

Commonly flagged

  • No PCIe Gen 5, so it doesn't fully exploit the AM5 platform
  • Frozr M.2 heatsink cover is missing from the third exposed M.2 slot
  • Lacks premium extras like 10GbE and USB4 at this price

Where reviewers disagree No cross-source disagreement can be assessed: only a single whitelisted tester (PCWorld) published a hands-on review of this exact model, and it was qualitative with no benchmark measurements.

With surprisingly few compromises, the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk delivers on most of the features of much more expensive options—leaving very little on the table.
The MSI BIOS is easy to use, with plenty of tweaking options, such as for the CPU and RAM settings.
it's a shame the feature wasn't applied to the last exposed M.2 slot as well.

Re-verified: Socket AM5, B650 (non-E) chipset, ATX, DDR5, 3x M.2 all PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6E confirmed via PCWorld review, MSI spec page and Amazon. B650 does not expose PCIe 5.0 lanes (GPU x16 is PCIe 4.0, no Gen5 M.2), so pcie_5 false. MSRP $259.99 per PCWorld.
