Independent testing
How much independent testing exists for each fitness tracker
Of the 12 fitness trackers we track, 11 have been physically measured by at least one independent lab and 4 by three or more. Below is every one, ordered by how much independent hands-on evidence stands behind it — densest first.
A coverage record, not a ranking of which is best.
| Product | Independent labs | Metrics measured | Outlets on record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fitbit Sense 2 | 3 | 6 | 4 |
| Fitbit Charge 6 | 3 | 5 | 3 |
| Fitbit Inspire 3 | 3 | 5 | 3 |
| Garmin Vivosmart 5 | 3 | 4 | 3 |
| Fitbit Air | 2 | 5 | 2 |
| Amazfit Band 7 | 2 | 4 | 2 |
| Ultrahuman Ring AIR | 2 | 3 | 2 |
| Fitbit Versa 4 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| Samsung Galaxy Ring | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| Garmin Lily 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 |
| WHOOP 5.0 | 1 | 2 | 1 |
| Oura Ring 4 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Each figure is a count of what independent testers actually did — how we count. A low count means little independent evidence has been gathered yet, never that a product is worse. See also the Fitness Trackers buying guide and the reviewers we cite.
