in our time with the stainless steel bar, we noticed the sleeves didn't spin as freely as Rogue's Olympic Weightlifting bar which features bushings.
You may also notice there is a "zip" noise when loading and unloading your weight plates (as they slide across the sleeve) that could irritate some.
