Hot take: The bike bell is the best part of the Edge 1050.
That lag is now entirely gone. And more critically: It’s been stable when it quickly shifts.
To me, this doesn’t feel finished yet. It’s not bad, but it’s not intuitive – especially for my first few rides.
The brighter, higher resolution screen is most welcome, and the onboard course creation almost allows you do away with the need for Strava and Komoot membership.
However, the lack of solar and the decline in battery life will be a concern for some.
It's a curious move to launch a model with less technical performance than the incumbent version, with the solar charging getting the flick, and with it a significant downgrade in battery life.
