What reviewers say about the Fractal Design Aspect 12 RGB

Only one whitelisted tester, Tom's Hardware, bench-tested this exact fan, in a five-fan budget-RGB roundup, and the verdict was harsh: a 'do-not-buy.' It produces dirty, resonant noise, moves just 60% of the Arctic P12 Pro's mesh airflow, lacks a Zero-RPM mode, and has the weakest RGB of the group.

Tested by Tom's Hardware

Consistently praised

  • Inaudible at minimum speed — stayed at the 32.7 dBA noise floor even at 20 cm

Commonly flagged

  • Dirty, raspy, resonant noise profile that capped its usable top speed
  • Weak airflow — only about 60% of the Arctic P12 Pro through a mesh intake
  • No Zero-RPM mode; still spins at ~500 RPM minimum even at 0% PWM
  • Worst RGB of the roundup — near-opaque blades leave the lighting dim

Where reviewers disagree Single-source: only Tom's Hardware provided hands-on measured data for this exact model, so there is no cross-outlet check on its harsh verdict.

Noise at max speed: 52 dBA at 1961 RPM · Airflow at max speed: 76.9 m3/h · Noise/speed at minimum duty: 32.7 dBA at 506 RPM · Mesh-intake restricted airflow: ~60% of Arctic P12 Pro at same noise level

Yes, it's quiet at its minimum speed, so that's not an issue
The Fractal Design Aspect 12 RGB also suffers from a painfully dirty noise profile that did show up on the charts, as it limited the fan's ability to reach the speeds it otherwise would have had it not made these noises.
Fractal Design's Aspect 12 RGB is on my do-not-buy list. It offers no real redeeming features to make up for its shortcomings – it produces a dirty, inconsistent noise, performs disappointingly compared to the competition, has no Zero-RPM mode, and even the RGB doesn't look all that great.
