What reviewers say about the ghd Platinum+

Both whitelisted sources tested the ghd Platinum+ hands-on and survived verification: Real Homes (qualitative, 2020) and TechRadar (measured, within a 2024 Chronos comparison). Both praise shiny, smooth, flawlessly straight results and easy, versatile use, and both call it expensive. TechRadar's measurements flag hair-pulling, a slow-snapping hinge, and a three-to-four-hour style hold (far short of the claimed 24h). No RTINGS or independent lab data available.

  • Plates tug/pull on the hair
  • Hinge doesn't snap the arms back into place quickly
  • Single fixed 185C setting, no temperature control

Where reviewers disagree Real Homes (no measurements) rated it highly with price as its main drawback, while TechRadar's measured hands-on test surfaced concrete weaknesses the qualitative review missed: noticeable hair-pulling, a laggy hinge, and styles collapsing after three to four hours.

Despite being six years old, the Platinum Plus is still a fantastic styler and more than does the job.
One of my biggest complaints with the Platinum Plus is that the hinge doesn't snap the arms back in place as quickly as I'd like.
I hadn't realized how much the Platinum Plus pulled my hair until I used the Chronos.

Real Homes lab-tested ·

The GHD Platinum Plus is a great hair straightener: it's safe, easy to use and leaves you with shiny, straight hair.
In both cases, the Platinum+ left their hair looking shiny and naturally straightened, yet flawlessly straight.
