Where reviewers disagree The uncoated stainless inner pot divides the testers. Tom's Guide had white rice stick to the bottom and said it takes much longer to clean, calling this the model's main downside. TechRadar hit the same surface with beef and onions on sauté and reported the opposite — the pot has no non-stick coating but the meat did not stick, and it found everything dishwasher-safe and easy to clean. Wirecutter sidesteps the sticking question entirely and frames the stainless, stove- and oven-safe pot as the Pro's single most meaningful upgrade over the cheaper Rio. Separately, Wirecutter is the only outlet that timed preheating, and it directly contradicts the marketing claim TechRadar repeats without testing: TechRadar relays Instant Pot's '20% faster' preheat claim as a spec, while Wirecutter's stopwatch found the Pro just 11 seconds ahead of the Rio and 24 seconds ahead of the Duo — no significant difference.

The Instant Pot Pro 6-quart has some great features that make it a meaningful upgrade over the Instant Pot Rio 6-quart, namely a stove- and oven-safe inner pot with handles, a large LCD screen, more temperature levels for sautéing, and a diffuser cap that makes the steam release a bit gentler.
The Pro has a bake setting that, in theory, allows you to bake without using steam (our top pick can only bake using steam). But when we tried the setting with some small cake rounds, we ended up with uncooked goo even after an hour.
Instant Pot advertises that the Pro preheats 20% faster than the brand’s other pots. We timed how long the Pro, Rio, Duo, and Duo Plus took to pressurize while cooking a pot of beans, and we didn’t find a significant difference.

The steam release switch on this model is one of the easiest and safest steam release methods we've seen on a multi-cooker and the steam valve has a cover to reduce splashes and noise.
This registered 72dB on our decibel meter, which is the equivalent of normal conversation in an office, and an acceptable level.
The rack that comes with the Instant Pot Pro isn't ideal for vegetables though and some of our broccoli fell through into the water below – we'd advise buying the steam accessory if you intend on doing lots of steaming.
Cooking results were impressive, resulting in tender and succulent beef texture.
The only disappointment was that it had stuck to the bottom of the inner pot, due to the fact that it's not non-stick and stainless steel.
While the broccoli was the ideal texture, the green beans were a little undercooked.
