When it comes to camping and tailgating, Honda's EU2200i nails it with a lightweight and ultra-quiet design.
What it does have is the best small engine you could hope for and quality that exceeds what anyone else has to offer in a compact generator.
It doesn't have the best runtime or fuel efficiency, though.
Real-world runtime, Eco Throttle, mixed household load (reported from 4-day hurricane use, not lab-controlled): nearly 10 hours
The EU2200i is fantastically efficient, so I haven’t done this dance too many times, even over four days.
on Eco Throttle mode (where it regulates its own throttle depending on loads) it ran last night for nearly 10 hours before I shut it down for a morning refuel.
From a sheer wattage perspective, it seems dinky.
Honda’s other closed-frame inverter generators are all highly regarded, and the EU2200i was a previous Wirecutter pick.
the higher prices are harder to justify for the smaller models
