Where reviewers disagree Two real splits. On competitive standing: PCWorld (July 2023, 1TB) called it "currently our top 10Gbps performer", and StorageReview (February 2024, 1TB) had it pulling ahead of the Crucial X9 Pro and Samsung T7 Shield on most tests — but Tom's Hardware (December 2024, 2TB) put its 1001 PCMark 10 score "in the lower half of our comparison drives", beaten by a Silicon Power PX10 that costs less. Eighteen months of newer rivals and a different capacity plausibly explain the gap. On price: Tom's and PCWorld both call it overpriced for what it delivers, while StorageReview says it is "priced in line with the market" — though StorageReview was looking at a $89.99 1TB and Tom's at a $169 2TB MSRP. The two long-write tests also produced different post-cache floors: around 250MBps (PCWorld, 1TB) versus sub-150 MB/s (Tom's Hardware, 2TB). StorageReview ran no sustained-write test at all, so it is silent on the cache cliff.

In almost all of the tests, the SK Hynix Tube T31 and X31 drives pull ahead of the Crucial X9 and Samsung T7, with the X31 beetle still pulling the lead on most tests.
The X31 Beetle is a nice overall portable SSD that's like many others in the market.
