the weight is almost always nearly identical – such as .1lbs apart. The body fat however was pretty substantially different, usually about 2-2.5% (generally higher) with the Index 2.
This one tends to just work with minimal fuss, even if it’s at a substantial premium compared to competitor offerings.
Overall it’s a minor upgrade.
The Garmin Index S2 is a superb smart scale, particularly for athletes with long-terms fitness goals in mind.
The color display is particularly impressive, and the best of any smart scale we’ve tested to date – bright and crisp, with an unusually high resolution that makes icons and text sharp and easy to read when standing up.
it’s a shame that the Garmin Connect app doesn’t give you an indication of whether your body fat, muscle and other composition scores are within the healthy range for your age, sex and height, and how close you are to the boundaries.
I loved the sleek and premium design of the Index S2 — it looks classy and minimalist so you don’t have to worry about it feeling out of place in your home.
However, the smart scale under-delivers for this price point.
I tested the black model and it was a nightmare to clean.
Everything about the hardware is spot-on, and the only fly in its ointment is the low refresh rate on its color screen.
But that is my only complaint, with accurate and detailed readings, including your body water percentage.
I can’t say how upsetting it is to see the screen refresh in such a laggy, unpolished manner, especially when you’re spending this much money.
