Where reviewers disagree Testers split sharply on ANC: SoundGuys measured it near best-in-class (88% reduction) and What Hi-Fi rated it 'up there with the very best,' while Engadget and TechRadar judged it middling and 'not the class-leading triumph it is billed as.' Battery also diverged — SoundGuys measured 9h41m (beating Sony's 8h claim) but TechRadar got only seven hours at higher volume.

SoundGuys lab-tested ·

ANC average loudness reduction (all frequencies): 88% · Battery life, single charge (measured): 9 hours and 41 minutes · ANC attenuation at ~100Hz: over 40 dB · ANC attenuation at ~2kHz: over 50 dB

Put simply, these are Sony’s best-sounding earbuds to date.
the Sony WF-1000XM6 lasted 9 hours and 41 minutes on a single charge
Despite the inclusion of extra small ear tips, if you have smaller ears, these might not be for you.

What Hi-Fi hands-on ·

The WF-1000XM6 make the WF-1000XM5 sound lean and lacking substance in comparison.
The case does feel a little cheap, though, and we're struggling to understand why it's bigger than before.
It still doesn't quite feel as intense as Bose's ANC and the QC Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) might still have the edge in blocking out low frequencies

Engadget hands-on ·

The sound is deep and warm, with thick bass that's adequate without ever overpowering the mix.
The M6 struggles mightily with human voices.
While the WF-1000XM6 is perfectly usable for voice and video calls, the overall quality is far from pristine.

TechRadar lab-tested ·

Battery life, real-world single charge (volume >50%): 7 hours

offer an expansive and pleasing soundstage with neutrality and plenty of options to further tweak the sound to your liking
the noise cancellation isn't the class-leading triumph it is billed as
In testing, I got a little less from them, at seven hours before they needed charging
