What reviewers say about the SSL 2+ MKII
Two whitelisted hands-on reviews (Sound on Sound, MusicRadar) both recommend the SSL 2+ MKII, praising its intuitive physical-controls workflow (no companion app needed) and clean, crisp preamps. Neither published its own lab measurements, so the dynamic-range gains they mention are SSL's own specs, not independently verified. MusicRadar's main gripe is the plasticky, lightweight feel versus all-metal rivals.

- Plasticky, lightweight chassis and buttons lacking tactile click versus all-metal rivals
- Probably overkill for a solo musician
- 32-bit/192kHz spec offers little practical recording benefit over 24-bit
Where reviewers disagree No substantive conflict; both are strong recommendations. The one real divergence is build feel: MusicRadar repeatedly knocks the plasticky, lightweight chassis against all-metal competitors, while Sound on Sound doesn't flag feel at all and says it can't fault any of the MkII changes.

I already really liked the 2 and 2+, and I can’t fault any of the changes that have been made in the MkII versions.
changes such as the separate guitar inputs, the LEDs indicating button status and the 2+’s extra pair of jacks offer a real improvement to the user experience, and make for a very worthwhile refresh.
the 4K Legacy button still adds a quite obvious treble enhancement, which can be just the ticket on some sources, and a bit much on others.
A superb audio interface for the modern musician that presents a supremely intuitive workflow and fantastic quality preamps.
the SSL 2+ MKII definitely holds its own against the likes of Focusrite and Universal Audio.
Versus the all-metal chassis of the aforementioned Focusrite 4th Gen and Apollo Gen 2 interfaces, it feels quite cheap and plasticky in your hands.
