What reviewers say about the Saatva Classic
Two whitelisted lab testers - Tom's Guide (published 14 Nov 2025, latest retest conducted Oct 2025) and TechRadar (last updated 31 Jan 2024) - both rank the Saatva Classic #1 in their best-mattress guides. Verdicts converge on best-in-class pressure relief and lumbar support, cool sleep, and strong full-perimeter edge support, with a responsive, bouncy innerspring feel rather than a deep foam sink-in. Both flag the premium price and the $99 return/exchange fee; Tom's Guide additionally notes a 300lb per-person weight cap. The two tested different firmness trims (Tom's Guide luxury-firm, TechRadar Firm), so their sinkage figures are not directly comparable.

Where reviewers disagree No substantive disagreement on the verdict - both name it their top overall pick. Sinkage numbers are not directly comparable because different trims and methods were used: TechRadar slept on the Firm (8/10) and measured 1.5" center sinkage under a 50lb kettlebell, while Tom's Guide tested luxury-firm (6.5/10) and measured 4.75" hip sinkage under a 25kg weight. TechRadar's review (last updated Jan 2024) is older than Tom's Guide's Oct 2025 lab retest.

Overall test score: 4.8 out of 5 · Firmness (luxury firm), average-weight sleeper: 6.5 out of 10 · Max temperature increase (MTI, thermal imaging camera): 6.3°F · Cooling rate (CR): 1.26°F/min · Hip sinkage under 25kg cast-iron weight: 4.75 inches · Shoulder sinkage under 25kg cast-iron weight: 4.6 inches · Motion isolation initial impact absorption (accelerometer, 5kg slam ball): 7.8 m/s²
Once again, Saatva's flagship model has outperformed every other mattress we've tested (now over 120), earning a near-perfect score of 4.8 out of 5 under our brand-new methodology.
We recorded an MTI of 6.3°F and a CR of 1.26°F/min.
It doesn't support co-sleepers who weigh over 300lbs each, and the premium price point won't suit all budgets.
Center sinkage under 50lb kettlebell (Firm trim): 1.5 inches · Edge sinkage under 50lb kettlebell (Firm trim): 1-1.5 inches
During my review period, I found it delivered excellent lumbar support, a cool sleep, and plenty of pressure relief for the back and shoulders.
When I placed a 50lb kettlebell weight in the middle of the Saatva Classic to test for pressure point relief, the sinkage was 1.5 inches, which is minimal.
In fact, my only minor complaint is the $99 fee for returns and exchanges.
