MusicRadar says the headphones "provide excellent isolation" and lists "Good passive noise cancellation" as a pro, and What Hi-Fi notes "plenty of passive isolation anyway from a firm but not pressured fit" — but SoundGuys, the only source that measured anything, gave Isolation / Attenuation 3.4 and wrote that Audio-Technica "does not win any awards for isolation" and "it can't compete with adept active noise canceling headphones". The latest Bluetooth version of Audio-Technica's M50x design is another winner, with excellently strong and musical wireless performance, a top-notch build and overall great value for the price.

A 20-200Hz bass sweep sounded completely flat, not a bump or trough to be heard. Very rare.

For their first few hours playing we thought them bass-dominated and rather thick.

When you put them on they provide excellent isolation and in this respect are perfect for both recording, DJing and general use.

From a sonic perspective the over-ear design delivers solid bass which can at times feel a bit too much.
