What reviewers say about the Blink Outdoor 4
Three whitelisted testers (Tom's Guide, TechRadar, and PCWorld/TechHive) went hands-on with the Blink Outdoor 4 and agree it's a top budget outdoor cam: cheap, tiny, easy to set up, with class-leading battery life powered by two AA lithium cells. All three flag mediocre 1080p image quality and key features locked behind a paid Blink subscription. TechRadar and PCWorld both note the manufacturer's two-year battery claim cannot be verified within a review period.

Where reviewers disagree Little disagreement on the overall verdict. The main nuance is image quality: Tom's Guide was impressed by the Outdoor 4's night vision, calling it 'drastically better' than the prior model, whereas TechRadar and PCWorld were more reserved, describing the 1080p footage as grainy/blurry and merely acceptable for the price.

Night-vision range observed in test (walked ~10 ft from camera, IR intensity set to Low): could make out trees and houses a good 50 feet behind subject
However, nighttime video on the Outdoor 4 was drastically better than the older model.
Right away, the person detection feature on the Outdoor 4 cut down tremendously on the number of alerts I received
the image is not nearly as crisp; I had to get much closer to the camera before my face was sharper.
Its best feature is a phenomenal two-year battery life, powered by two easily replaceable AA batteries
obviously the two year battery life is an estimation provided by Amazon. Unfortunately I'm not a time traveller, so I can't provide a good estimation of my own on this
The 1080p resolution is perfectly fine for a first time home camera, but it's no premium device.
The Blink Outdoor 4 is a solid budget-priced outdoor security camera with amazingly long battery and excellent privacy protection.
I obviously can't test that claim and the battery's real-world lifespan will depend on how frequently the camera goes into operation
No pet, package, or vehicle detection; person detection still in beta
