In the copy test, it achieved fast transfer rates of 557.3 MB/s.
The resolution and refresh rate also remain unchanged, which means that the Apple tablet still only works with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. This is no longer acceptable in any price class in 2024.
But when the iPad mini 7's volume is turned up all the way, it sounds hollow and tinny.

Few tablets are as versatile and powerful as the iPad mini. I used it for all kinds of work, creative, and entertainment activities and was never disappointed. It remains one of my favorite drawing devices.
I'm not thrilled that the peak brightness is stuck at 500 nits when Apple's other mobile devices are pumping out, under certain conditions 2,000 nits.
It's not great battery life, and I wonder if we might have gotten more had Apple made the switch from the A17 Pro to a more efficient M2.
The A17 Pro was more than capable of all those tasks, with no slowdowns or stutters to note.
It's a very nice screen, but it's still a standard LCD display with a now-pedestrian 60Hz refresh rate.
Using a variety of the apps and workflows I've described, I'd get around eight hours before needing a charge.
