What reviewers say about the DJI Mini 3 Pro

Three whitelisted testers (Engadget, Tom's Guide, TechRadar) field-tested this exact 249g DJI Mini 3 Pro and all rate it the best sub-250g compact drone, praising its portability and obstacle avoidance. All three flag that real-world flight time falls well short of DJI's rated 34/47 minutes, and two note the steep price jump over the Mini 2.

Commonly flagged

  • Real-world flight time falls short of DJI's rated 34/47 minutes · 3 sources
  • Notably more expensive than the previous Mini 2 · 2 sources
  • Object tracking does not work in vertical/portrait video mode
  • Video transmission loses signal quickly without line of sight

Where reviewers disagree Measured standard-battery flight time varied by rig and reserve assumptions: Engadget saw ~30 min max (RTH warning at ~25 min), while TechRadar reported a more conservative 20-25 min once RTH reserve, temperature and wind were factored in. Tom's Guide only measured the extended Plus battery (~40 min), not the standard cell.

Real-world flight time (standard battery, run to exhaustion): about 30 minutes max · Return-to-home warning trigger time: after about 25 minutes · Weight: 249 grams (8.8 ounces)

DJI's Mini 3 Pro is the new king of the lightweight drones.
We ran it to exhaustion several times and saw about 30 minutes max, with the return to home (RTH) warning kicking in after about 25 minutes.
DJI claims its 1080p OcuSync 3.0 RC video transmission works over 12 km (7.5 miles), but we found this to be a weak point in our tests. If you don't have direct line of sight, it tends to lose the signal far more rapidly than the Mavic 3.

Tom's Guide lab-tested ·

Real-world flight time (Intelligent Flight Battery Plus): around 40-ish minutes

Pick up the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, however, and the Mini 3 Pro's flight time jumps to 47 minutes — three quarters of an hour. In testing, I was able to get around 40-ish minutes, but unlike DJI's larger drones, the Mini 3 Pro will be more affected by the wind.
The only downside to portrait mode is that it doesn't support object tracking, so you can't film yourself in this mode and expect the Mini 3 Pro to automatically follow you around.
I did notice that in slightly overcast conditions, footage was grainier than with DJI drones that have larger camera sensors.

TechRadar lab-tested ·

Top speed (Cine mode): 13.4mph · Top speed (Normal mode): 22.3mph · Top speed (Sport mode): 35.7mph · Wind speed resistance: just under 24mph · Real-world flight time (standard battery, incl. RTH reserve): 20-25 minute region

Thanks to its fast f/1.7 aperture and excellent high-ISO noise handling, the Mini 3 Pro is a great choice if you often find yourself shooting stills or video in low-light situations. Image quality is amazing even at ISO 3200, so you can confidently shoot at any ISO setting.
In reality, when you factor in the charge needed for Return to Home, varying temperatures and wind, your flights are more realistically in the 20-25 minute region
One fairly sizable downside, though, is the large leap in price from the DJI Mini 2 .
