What reviewers say about the DJI Mini 5 Pro

Two whitelisted testers (TechRadar, Tom's Guide), both licensed drone pilots who flew it for weeks, rate the Mini 5 Pro the best sub-250g drone yet: class-leading 1-inch imaging, front-facing LiDAR obstacle avoidance and a 225-degree gimbal. Both flag battery life falling short of the 36-minute claim; TechRadar also notes borderline weight (take-off weight could be over 250g) and no US launch.

  • Borderline sub-250g take-off weight and no US launch availability

Where reviewers disagree No product disagreement, but the two measured flight times diverged sharply - TechRadar got ~20 min in wind with 360 ActiveTrack running, while Tom's Guide got ~35 min on a windless out-and-back - showing endurance depends almost entirely on conditions and active features rather than a defect.

real-world flight time (4K/60fps + 360 ActiveTrack, moderate wind): ~20 min

The Mini 5 Pro shoots the best quality video I've seen in a sub-250g drone.
it was able to navigate overhanging branches with ease while keeping me in the center of the frame.
During moderately breezy conditions and shooting 4K 60fps video and making use of functions such as 360° ActiveTrack, I was getting more like 20 minutes in the air.

Tom's Guide lab-tested ·

flight time (windless, out-and-back flight): ~35 min · wind withstood in flight (weather-app reading): 21 mph

the DJI Mini 5 Pro fixes every problem I've encountered with mini drones, and it sets a new gold standard.
Low-light performance is stellar too.
There isn't a huge difference between the DJI Mini 5 Pro's and the DJI Mini 4 Pro's maximum flight times.

Source: djiusa.com (verified 2026-08-26) · corroborated by store.dji.com. DJI official specs page (dji.com/mini-5-pro/specs, served EU locale) confirmed verbatim: takeoff weight 249.9 g (±4 g), 1″ CMOS 50 MP effective pixels, video 4K 3840×2160 up to 120fps (H.265 slow-motion; 60fps standard), max flight time 36 min with the standard Intelligent Flight Battery (52 min with Battery Plus), FCC max transmission range 20 km (10 km CE), and an omnidirectional dual-vision sensing system (front/back/side/up/down) supplemented by forward LiDAR and a downward infrared sensor. The DJI Store product page (store.dji.com/product/dji-mini-5-pro) corroborated 1″ CMOS 50 MP, 4K/120fps slow-motion, 249 g, 36 min max flight, 20 km FCC range, 42 GB internal storage, and omnidirectional night obstacle sensing. weight_g uses the precise 249.9 g takeoff weight from the primary spec page (the store comparison rounds it to 249 g); sub250g is true as the stated weight is under 250 g. No release date and no USD price are stated on any fetched page, so releaseDate, the release spec, and priceUsd are left null rather than guessed. Re-verified 2026-07-10: all non-null spec values, priceUsd (null), and releaseDate (null) re-checked against freshly fetched source and corroboration text — every value holds; exact base model "DJI Mini 5 Pro" (DJI RC-N3, €799), not a variant.
