What reviewers say about the Level Bolt
All three whitelisted outlets (Tom's Guide, Digital Trends, PCWorld) hands-on reviewed the Level Bolt and agree it is the most discreet smart lock available: it hides entirely inside the door with no change to exterior hardware, and operates reliably day to day. Tom's Guide and Digital Trends both flag the lack of door-open/ajar detection (auto-lock fires even with the door open) and limited voice-assistant support (no Google Assistant); Tom's Guide adds that it needs a bridge for Wi-Fi. Digital Trends calls it expensive at $229. Installation ease is the main point of disagreement. PCWorld's daily-use testing was near-flawless, but geofencing didn't work.

Where reviewers disagree Installation ease splits the testers: Digital Trends completed it in under 10 minutes and PCWorld called it a 'quick and painless procedure,' while Tom's Guide found it 'a little more finicky than... other smart locks,' requiring removal of both the door and door-jamb plates and taking about 30 minutes.

Hands-on setup/installation time: ~30 minutes
The Level Bolt performed as expected, locking and unlocking my door with ease and without delay.
Putting the Level Bolt in my door proved to be a little more finicky than installation has been with other smart locks
That means that the bolt itself is hollow, which is a potential safety concern.
Hands-on installation time: under 10 minutes
The beauty of the Level Lock is its quick and simple installation, which took me no more than 10 minutes to complete.
The Level Lock is expensive at $229.
I would expect a smart lock to be smart enough to determine if a door is actually closed or not, but that doesn't happen here.
By truly becoming completely invisible, the Level Bolt is about to change the smart lock industry as we know it.
Near flawless operation in daily use
Geofencing didn't work
