What reviewers say about the Meta Quest 3

Across three verified hands-on reviews (Tom's Guide, TechRadar, The Verge), the Quest 3 is the consensus best standalone VR headset for the price / for most people: sharper higher-res pancake-optic displays that finally make in-headset text legible, a slimmer better-balanced design, snappy Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 performance, and improved full-color passthrough over predecessors. Tom's Guide and The Verge flag roughly two-hour battery life and imprecise hand tracking, and both note a thin mixed-reality content library at launch; TechRadar reports the same ~2-hour runtime but frames it positively and is bullish on MR.

Battery life (100% to dead, mixed gaming + video): 1 hour 57 minutes

The Meta Quest 3 is a clear choice for the best VR headset that we've ever tested.
The headset is much slimmer thanks to the use of pancake optics, which makes it noticeably more comfortable to wear.
I managed to bring the Quest from 100% battery to dead in 1 hour 57 minutes.

TechRadar lab-tested ·

Simply put, the Meta Quest 3 is the best VR headset out there for most people.
VR text is no longer afflicted with the blurry edges that make it a challenge to read; in fact all virtual objects appear more well-defined than on the Quest 2.
This fabric padding is harder to clean than silicone if it gets super sweaty

The Verge lab-tested ·

Battery life (observed, all uses): ~2 hours (a hair over) · Frame rate — Dungeons of Eternity at high settings: ~80 fps

It's more comfortable, more powerful, easier to figure out, more pleasant to use for long stretches, and just flat-out better.
everything from on-screen text to high-res games looks significantly crisper and better, like you've upgraded from a standard-def TV to a high-def set.
The problem is, there's almost nothing compelling to do in mixed reality on the Quest 3.
