What reviewers say about the DJI Osmo Action 4
Two whitelisted testers (Tom's Guide and TechRadar, both hands-on field tests) reviewed the exact DJI Osmo Action 4. Both praise excellent 4K video/image quality (aided by the larger 1/1.3-inch sensor), convenient magnetic mounting, and 18m waterproofing. Both flag mediocre battery life and note it maxes out at 4K while priced close to a GoPro. They split on stabilization. Only TechRadar measured lab-style figures were absent; Tom's Guide provided the concrete battery/overheating numbers. No RTINGS lab data was available.

Where reviewers disagree The two sources disagree on stabilization: TechRadar calls RockSteady 3.0+ 'incredibly effective' and says you won't need a gimbal, while Tom's Guide judges it 'okay, but still not as good as it could or should be.'

Battery life (mixed FHD + 4K/60p recording, standard battery): just over 80 minutes · Overheating (indoor, Full HD/60p): overheated after about 10 minutes · Effective battery life (Adventure Combo, three batteries): 4 hours
The Osmo Action 4 produces excellent video footage.
The Osmo Action 4's battery life is a little disappointing. In my testing, I was able to record just over 80 minutes of mixed Full HD and 4K footage before the battery died.
The image stabilization is okay, but still not as good as it could or should be.
The Osmo Action 4 is a fantastic action camera; it's tiny, rugged, versatile, and crucially it delivers better image quality than its predecessor, packing more detail in challenging shooting environments and low light.
Otherwise, we get Rocksteady 3.0+ stabilization, which is incredibly effective.
An adverse impact of the larger sensor in a camera with identical dimensions and 155-degree field-of-view lens is that the minimum focus distance is increased from 0.3m to 0.4m.
