The bright spots here are the affordable price tag, reliable image stabilization and solid battery life, which make the Hero a camera that retains some appeal despite its weaknesses.
So overall, I found the image quality disappointing.
I should also talk about audio recording, which really isn't great.
Battery life (tested), 4K/30p until overheat/depletion: 103 minutes (1 hour 43 minutes), no overheating
All that aside, 4K footage from the Hero looks really good.
The GoPro Hero's internal microphone setup is pretty cruddy.
In fact, operating the camera using the rear screen is simply tedious.
