What reviewers say about the DJI Osmo Action 6

Three whitelisted hands-on reviews (Tom's Guide 5/5 Editor's Choice, TechRadar 4.5/5, Engadget 88/100) rate the DJI Osmo Action 6 the best or near-best action cam, praising superb bright-light/daylight video, class-leading battery life and waterproofing, effective RockSteady stabilization, and strong internal-microphone audio. Common gripes: resolution limits versus GoPro's Hero 13 (and the awkward gap between 4K/60fps and 8K/30fps) and no official US availability or first-party support.

Where reviewers disagree Low-light splits the panel: Engadget calls the Action 6 'the best action cam on the market for night shooting' as its standout strength, while Tom's Guide ('Low-light performance is fairly respectable') and TechRadar ('I wasn't amazed by the camera's low-light performance, nor did I find it especially problematic') treat night video as good-but-not-transformative.

Build quality is phenomenal.
The DJI Osmo Action 6 is the ultimate all rounder.
Annoyingly, on the OA6, there's no selectable resolution between 4K/60fps and 8K/30fps.

TechRadar lab-tested ·

battery life, mixed 1080p/4K real-world: ~4 hours per charge

once you take the DJI Osmo Action 6 out into bright daylight, the quality is superb.
I was surprised by the quality of the internal microphone.
I did notice that some quite excessive sharpening is applied in some circumstances

Engadget hands-on ·

Compared to the Action 5 Pro, I found nighttime video from the Action 6 to be considerably cleaner.
The first thing I noticed with this feature was the lack of full manual control.
the GoPro Hero 13's extra resolution is an advantage if you mostly use YouTube and other horizontal formats.

Source: dji.com (verified 2026-07-07) · corroborated by djiusa.com. DJI official Osmo Action 6 specifications page (dji.com/us/osmo-action-6/specs, resolved to the /de/ locale but carrying global specs) confirms: 1/1.1-inch CMOS square sensor, max video 8K (16:9) 7680x4320 @24/25/30fps and 4K (4:3) @120fps, EIS suite RockSteady 3.0 / RockSteady 3.0+ / HorizonBalancing / HorizonSteady, 20 m waterproof body-only (60 m with case, IP68), dual touchscreens (2.5-inch rear 326ppi 400x712 + 1.46-inch front 331ppi 342x342), 155-degree FOV, f/2.0-f/4.0 variable aperture, 149 g, 1950 mAh battery. The DJI USA store (djiusa.com) Standard Combo page corroborates the English specs (1/1.1-inch square sensor, up to 8K/30fps, RockSteady 3.0 / HorizonSteady, 20 m waterproof body-only, 50 GB built-in storage) and lists the Standard Combo price at $436.00 USD (Essential Combo $426.00, Adventure Combo $536.00). ADVERSARIAL VERIFICATION (re-fetched 2026-07-10): 'OLED' panel type is NOT present on either fetched page. The dji.com specs label the screens only as 'Touchscreen' (with ppi/resolution/brightness, no panel type), and the djiusa.com product page contains no 'OLED' string and no rear/front-screen comparison table, so the display value (which asserted OLED twice) was NULLED even though the 2.5-inch / 1.46-inch sizes are confirmed. Release date (2025-11) is not stated on either fetched source; the earlier Notebookcheck launch-date citation (Nov 18, 2025) was not among the re-fetched source/corroboration URLs, so releaseDate and specs.release were NULLED. Exact model confirmed (Osmo Action 6 Standard Combo, $436), not a sibling/variant. Surviving verified specKeys: max_video, sensor, stabilization, waterproof_m, fov_deg, weight_g (6 of 8, above half) so publish remains true.
